[PD] Webcam recommendations (linux/osx)

I'd like to do some live visuals and am looking for a suitable webcam to
use with pd in linux (or osx).  If possible I'd like to be able to set the
focus and zoom manually (since it'll stand only a few inches away from the
object).

Anyone have recommendations for cameras they've used?
