[PD] preferences - startup parameters unreachable

thanks Lucas for the repair advise.

this problem came about while i tried to set the log level to 4 (all)
like you suggested in 'my' font thread.

-verbose 4
results in "cannot open 4"

-verbose "4"  or -verbose "all"
result in the subject of this thread.
