[PD] attack detection on melody instrument (vocals)

hi list,

i am trying to register note attacks (to start an ad generator) from a vocal (or monophonic instrument) performance.

i cannot use bonk~ since i want to compile the patch with heavy and bonk~ is not available. 

see attached patch. it works quite well but maybe someone knows a better (as in more robust, faster) way. vanilla only.
