only if you selexted the "portaudio" backend on the first place.
if you select the "standard" (aka "MMIO" on windows) backend (this is done directly under the "media" menu, as opposed to the "audio setup"), then you cannot possibly have the " ASIO" option available.

i think this is what christof hinted at.
