gem performance under linux

This is a common problem for everyone, I think. I use a Voodoo2, which
allows me to do a direct TV signal out while still using my main video card
for the Pd window on the monitor. However, the Voodoo2 is _really_ showing
its age these days.

The system which I am hoping to try soon is the nVidia Quadro2 MXR
chipset. Elsa has the Synergy III, which has dual monitor outputs, both
with hardware acceleration. Have to see.

Later, Mark
