Another tool, which might be useful is awk (or gawk), which is
standard on most Unix platforms and very easy to learn (compared to
perl). It scans input line by line and does transformations based on
searchstrings in that line. Considering the line oriented way, Pd
patches are stored that could be another option, being somewhere
between sed and perl.
