Hi,

I have an external lying around called [using], which  implements the
scoping on a global level. I agree that having it per abstraction would
be better. I think Krzysztof's analysis of the technical problems is to
the point, nothing that can't be solved, but to make it consistent for all
types of externals and libraries we would need some changes.
Anyhow, as the scoping problem exists for abstractions too, it would be
a good idea to solve this inside Pd some day, with [declare], [using]
[import] or whatever it will be called.
