well, if not sleeves then maybe gloves would be more fashionable?

seriously though ... it is for good reasons that motion capture has very often 
used distinctively marked clothing, it would be a lot easier and offer 
interesting gestural possibilities if you wore simple gloves with markings to 
make hands (and fingers, and palm vs back of hand, or left and right etc) easy 
to track. Strong, known colours and simple, oriented shapes make tracking a lot 
easier.
